SEO Optimization Tips To Start A New blog – Chapter Six
Good news! When it comes time to add your URL to the search engines there are some free ways to make this happen almost painlessly. You will want to add your URL to a couple of the big sites manually however and we will go over how to do that with the experts.
Once you have your site up and several articles written, you will want to notify the search engines and directories that you have content. The fastest way, in my opinion, is to use Free Web Submission. You will want to use an email address that you actually monitor as there will be a few of these submissions that you will need to verify. Don’t worry about getting spammed by these directories, it has been my experience that the notifications are a one off deal.
When it comes to Bing and Google you will have to submit those by hand (you can do this through the submission tool above), you just need to enter the insanely difficult captcha code to prove your not a robot (sometimes I think you need to be a machine to read those codes don’t you?) Don’t forget to approve the submissions that require it through email verification.

Applying the strategies outlined in Bam Bam Backlinks will help you a) figure out which keywords to target and b) build a backlinking network before you create your articles!
If you are setting your blog up on a WordPress platform you need to be aware that WordPress automatically pings your posts every time you change something and update it. This can be bad for your blog. You need to use a good ping management tool like MBP Ping Optimizer.
What you do not want to have happen is to have your blog pegged by Google as a ping spammer! The process is simple, remove the ping service from the box over at settings>writing and then add these ping services to the MBP Ping Optimizer:
That is all there is to it. Now your posts will only ping the search engines once. Pinging is the process that lets directories and search engines know something is happening on your blog and they need to go look at it to update the information.
Let’s go look at how to get traffic to your blog so that the search engines can find you and see that you are a big deal 🙂
