One of the most daunting challenges of any would be entrepreneur is getting organized. Where to start to get organized?

The first thing you need to decide, which means to cut off all other options, is what you want to accomplish. This sounds like a no brainer, however you would be amazed at how many people flounder around jumping from one thing to the next because they haven’t formed a plan. To get organized you need a destination.

How often do you get in the car, start driving and then decide where you are going? The goal of “making money online” or simply “making money” is like getting in your car, starting the engine, pulling out of the drive way and then wandering around hoping that a destination will appear that is appealing to you.

Better to know where it is you want to go before pulling out of the driveway. Often these are called mission statements in business. A mission statement helps you to stay focused. You can look at opportunities that come along and decide if those opportunities are going to move you along toward your goal or are going to cause you to become distracted, you know, the shiny objects syndrome.

A mission statement to get organized can be as simple as:

In (insert time frame here) from now I will be in possession of (insert dollar amount or accomplishment  you seeks to achieve) which will come to me in various (ways/amounts) from time to time during the 12 month period. In return for the (money/accomplishment) I will give the most efficient service of which I am capable. I will render the fullest possible quality and the best possible service in the capacity of (name what you are going to use as the vehicle  to achieve the intended results). I believe that I will have (accomplished this [insert goal]/money) in my possession. My faith is so strong that I can now see the (accomplished goal/money) before my eyes. I can touch it with my hands. It is now awaiting transfer to me at the time and in the proportion that I deliver the service I intend to render in return for it. I am awaiting a plan by which to (accomplish/accumulate) this (goal/money) and I will follow the plan when it is received.

Write this down on a 3×5 card (or a 4×6 card) and read it every morning and every evening. As ideas come to you to accomplish your goal and as you look at the results others have already achieved, let them blend together to produce your plan. Having a coach or at least someone to bounce ideas off of helps a lot in this process. I invite you to join our Facebook Mastermind group it is a place to interact with other entrepreneurs, get ideas and get technical help to move forward with your plan.

Determining what you want to do is a process of looking at what you are good at. What gifts and talents do you already have. Then aligning them with a money creating vehicle. If you are good at writing, affiliate marketing through blogging might be a good fit. If you are good at making videos, video blogging could be your forte. You like to talk to people face to face or over the phone? Then network marketing could be the business for you.  There are so many opportunities to create wealth around, that unless you have a concrete idea where you want to go, you will get lost (and probably go broke) without a plan.

Once you have determined where you want to be, the process of forming a plan is to simply work backwards from the goal to your present place. Tony Robbins says that the easiest way to accomplish this is to find someone who has already gotten the results you want to get and do the same things that they did. Similar actions usually produce similar results.

An easy way to create a plan and get organized is to use this free mind mapping software. I like to have a visual about what it is that I’m trying to achieve. The thing you need to remember to get organized is that you need to have goals that are specific, measurable and have a date of completion attached to them.

Action  Assignment:

  1. Write down your strengths, gifts and talents
  2. Write down what you want to accomplish – the mission statement
  3. Decide which vehicle you are going to use to accomplish your mission
  4. Find someone who has already accomplished the mission you wish to accomplish
  5. Develop a plan to get to your goal by working backwards from where you want to be based on what steps those that have achieved your desired goal have done to achieve that goal.
